The Curtin Health Innovation Research Institute (CHIRI) is sponsoring a public lecture by Professor Manny Noakes as part of its support of the Symposium of Western Australian Neuroscience 2018.

Manny’s lecture on ‘Mind and Diet Connections – Food for Thought’ is at 5.30pm on Thursday 29 November at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research Auditorium.

Prof. Noakes, who’s currently an Adjunct Research Professor with the University of South Australia and a member of the Nutrition Society of Australia, is a nationally and internationally-recognised key opinion leader and trusted advisor in nutrition and health.

Manny’s won many awards for her contribution to the research community, including three CSIRO medals, and was named in the top 50 influential women in South Australia in 2014 and nominated for Australian of the Year in 2017.

The public lecture is part of a session open to the general public, which will commence with a Three-Minute Thesis Competition (Mid-Late PhD Students) from 4pm.

Also part of the SWAN program is a public lecture by Dr Dan Burns from Zinfandel Pharmaceuticals Inc. (USA). Dan’s lecture at 4.20pm on Friday, 30 November is on ’25 Years of Alzheimer’s Research and Clinical Development: How We Got Here and Where Do We Go’.

This lecture is also part of a session open to the general public, held at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research Auditorium, and starts with a Three-Minute Thesis Competition (Honours and Early PhD Students) from 3.20pm.
