The Faculty of Health Sciences and CHIRI were pleased to sponsor the Science on the Swan Conference, Perth’s premier conference for health and medical research and to also support attendance of postgraduate students via complimentary registration. More than half of the submitted abstracts presented at Science on the Swan were from CHIRI postgraduate students. Moreover, two CHIRI postgraduate abstract submissions were awarded ‘Best Poster Prize’ presentation. Congratulations to both students:
Benjamin Bartlett (co-authors Imran Khan, Clinton Matthyson, Omar Elaskalani, Ralph Martins, Giuseppe Verdile and Pat Metharom) for the presentation titled “Oligomeric amyloid-beta induces platelet aggregation” and;
Jordan Rowlands (co-authors Rodrigo Carlessi and Philip Newsholme) for the presentation titled “The role of glucagon-like peptide-1 and associated signal transduction in the regulation of pancreatic beta cell metabolism”.
