By Kerrie Collier 25 October 2016 Announcements Facilities News Technology Comments Off on Technology Platform Update – October

Histology suite:

The new Leica cryostat has arrived and is ready to use. The Leica automated tissue processor has also been commissioned and is ready to use. If you require training on either of these please contact Connie Jackaman: connie.jackaman@curtin.edu.au

Nikon A1+ confocal microscope:

A new multi-immersion 20x objective (for water, oil and glycerin mounted samples) has been purchased for the Nikon A1+ confocal microscope and will permanently be placed on the system. This will allow greater flexibility, better image resolution and covers the number of different types of samples being used in the facility.

Ultraview confocal microscope:

The new 488 nm laser has been installed and has improved the instrument capabilities. During the installation, all lasers were optimised and please note previous laser power settings may need to be adjusted for the system. Suggested settings for each laser can be found next to the instrument and if you have any questions please contact Connie Jackaman.

Image of the Month:

The last call for Image of the Month is due COB Friday 11th November. This will be the last round for the year as ‘Image of the Year’ and prize winner will be announced at the CHIRI Focus on Microscopy Workshop.
