Suggestion: silent on six

By Curtin Library 11 June 2018 News & events 3 Comments »

From the suggestion box@Curtin Library…

i think that level 6 should permanatly be a silent level not just during exam weeks. it would be very helpful as sometimes three isn’t always free seats in the silent rooms.

The Library responds…

Thank you for your sensible suggestion. We know how important that silent space is to you and other students. We will seriously consider your suggestion as we prepare for next semester and beyond.

    Hi All,

I also think this would be a great idea.

Having level 6 as completely silent has been great for exam prep.

there’s plenty of other levels for group chat and noise.

I think the functionality of the 6th floor for many students is its accessibility to power points/usb slots at each individual booth – hence one of the reasons it’s the one of the most-used floors. Not against the whole “make it a silent floor from now on” but I think if it’s going to be considered for future semesters then I would suggest also fully equipping lower floors with the same accessibility to power points/usb slots too.

Might be beneficial to the students who want a complete silent zone for the 6th floor too so that people don’t come up to use the power points at individual tables and bring up their habitual talking as well.

Thank you, you raise some very good points for consideration and this is indeed the kind of thing we will take into account when making decisions about the use of different areas in the Library.
