Suggestion: Reduced Noise on Level 2

By Curtin Library 23 August 2018 News & events Comments Off on Suggestion: Reduced Noise on Level 2

From the suggestion box@Curtin Library…

Level 2 is far too loud. It’s okay to talk and be social in the group table area, but certain groups get too out of control, with loud obnoxious laughing and yelling. If library representatives could just remind these groups to be civilised that would be great. Understandibly, what students do in library is not the library’s fault, but it is also incredibly aggitating when they’re that loud and all they are doing is playing games, taking up bandwidth while being incredibly disruptive.

The Library responds…

Thank you for your suggestion.

The library designates zones for noise levels in the library according to our guidelines for Considerate Use of the Library. Level 2 has been designated as a “Social” zone where noise is allowed, although I agree yelling is not acceptable and I will remind Library staff to be alert to this concern. If you should need immediate action from staff to address a noise issue, please phone us on 9266 7166 (or just 7166 from a Library help phone) or email us This email address is monitored all the time the Library is providing full service and issues will be attended to as soon as possible once they are drawn to our attention.

Quieter and silent study areas are located on levels 4, 5 and 6 and we recommend these areas for both quiet group and individual study.
