Suggestion: Noise

By Curtin Library 26 September 2017 News & events Comments Off on Suggestion: Noise

From the suggestion box@Curtin Library…

1) People in the level 6 computer room are talking way too loud, especially at night. I can never concentrate when.

2) Please make one of the silent rooms computer free. I really need silence when I study, but even in the silent room, there are people typing really loudly.

3) The walls in the study rooms are so thin.

The Library responds…

Thank you for the feedback and suggestions regarding noise.

While people should not be talking loudly, it can be more difficult to monitor the level of noise caused by typing and use of devices in silent areas.  Please consider wearing noise cancelling headsets if you are sensitive to sound.

I have asked Library staff who are monitoring the computer rooms on the floor to be alert to the concerns you raise and where necessary, remind people of the rules.  You may also report problems like this to Libraryenquiries@curtin.edu.au. This email address is monitored all the time the Library is providing full service and issues will be attended to as soon as possible once they are drawn to our attention.

The library would like to implement better sound insulation and will take this into account in future planning.
