Curtin’s Dubai campus to proceed
Curtin’s proposal to establish a campus at the Dubai International Academic City in the United Arab Emirates has now been approved by Curtin Council.
The campus will expand Curtin’s current global footprint in a major new geographical region and strengthen our standing as a global university. The campus will offer our programs to students from the Middle East, the Indian Sub-Continent, Africa and Central Asia. Degree programs are expected to commence in January.
The initial courses offered will include a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in business, science and the humanities and we expect that additional courses will be rolled out progressively in future years.
A resident Pro Vice-Chancellor will be appointed to head the campus, and will provide oversight of all academic matters, including academic staff selection, course materials, enrolment and entry standards, assessments and examinations, teaching standards, and academic governance structures.
Establishing the campus will also provide an opportunity for the University to develop collaborative research centres with key industry and international university partners in areas of strategic interest.
Curtin University Dubai will be unveiled at the region’s leading student recruitment event, The Gulf Education & Training Exhibition (GETEX) on Thursday 13 April 2017.
I would like to thank the many Curtin staff who have worked to bring this proposal to fruition. Your contribution has been important and is very much appreciated.
