Offer for Heads of Agreement

On Monday, 8 June, the University made an offer to the NTEU to enter into a collective agreement for academic staff at Curtin. The offer provides for a salary increase of 6 per cent over the proposed term of the Agreement to 31 July 2010.

The offer is being considered by the NTEU, after which the University expects to enter into discussions to finalise the detail of the clauses included.

When a Heads of Agreement is finalised between the parties, the University will pay the initial salary increase of 2 per cent backdated to 1 April 2009.

The University’s offer acknowledges the NTEU’s statement of principles for improved conditions of employment for staff, and in particular the employment conditions of sessional and grant funded research staff. The University’s offer also responds to staff concerns about academic workload.
