Virtual worlds for authentic learning and internationalisation

Professor Robin Watts and her team have developed a virtual version of the Wounds West clinic where students meet a patient called Mrs Swipe. Students are required to assess her wound, determine a treatment plan and follow-up. The patient’s health and well-being will reflect the effectiveness of the choices made. A simple omission, such as forgetting to wash hands, can result in a decline in the patients condition.
