The number of computers in the library really helps me use anytime. However, only a few scanners does not seem to reflect the number of students at Curtin. I would like to suggest to have more scanners or make the copier work as a scanner. Thanks.

The library responds…

Thankyou for your comment and suggestion.

Re the scanners. The library appreciates the growth in demand for scanning facilities. Frustration in gaining access to a scanner arises when all the library computers are in use, including those attached to scanners. In the short term, we are going to designate a computer/scanner in the lounge@your library as a scanning machine. We will also look at expanding the number of scanners attached to the computers throughout the library.

Re using the copiers as scanners. This is a good idea and one the library has been looking into. The problem at the moment is that the copiers are set up to charge for copies and we do not charge for scanning (nor do we intend to charge). The system the copiers use is not easy to set up to make this distinction. However, we have not given up and are still working on a solution. We are also looking at the option of purchasing a copier that will do scanning only.
