Suggestion: quiet computer rooms

By Curtin Library 13 March 2018 News & events No Comments »

From the suggestion box@Curtin Library…

I wish the library had more ‘quiet’ computer rooms as opposed to completely silenced computer rooms with sound cards removed.

Also, I wish the campus computers had access to different browsers like Google Chrome, because just like it’s predecessor, Microsoft Edge is terrible.

The Library responds…

In catering for the range of study preferences, the Library provides two quiet computer rooms on level 6 and the PCs in these rooms have sound enabled. We have two silent computer rooms, with sound disabled, one on level 5 and one on level 6. We will certainly take your suggestion for more quiet computer rooms into account when reviewing the use of the areas.

The Google Chrome and Firefox browsers are both available on PCs in the Library. While they are not directly installed onto the computers, they do appear a few minutes after login. Just use the search box in the Start menu to find these once they become available.
