Suggestion Box: Noise from Events

By Curtin Library 8 April 2019 News & events 1 Comment »

From the suggestion box@Curtin Library…

Can the Library please request that the music out on the Henderson Court Lawns on Friday nights is turned down? Who is responsible for this regular event? It is almost 7pm and I’m in the quiet zone on level 4 and can here ALL the lyrics of the contant playlist outside. The music has got progressively louder in the hour and a hlaf I’ve been here. It’s like having a noisy neighbourhood party. It’s very distracting, unprofessional and inconsiderate.

The Library responds…

Thank you for the feedback about the noise levels outside the Robertson Library on Friday. I agree it is not a good idea to locate noisy events in close proximity to the silent areas of the Library. I have passed your comments onto the team at ‘Explore Curtin’ who are responsible for booking events, highlighting how this impacts students and asking how we might avoid this in future. I would also encourage you to get in touch with them to register your complaint directly via email

Can we please be modernised and realise that it is 2019, and we should have a microwave in the Library. Many of us come after hours to study and since no cafe’s are open past certain times we like to bring food from home. How are we supposed to warm it up if Curtin does not even assist the students.

Every other university I have gone to caters to the students needs and especially having microwaves in the library is essential.

Please get us a microwave for the library.
