The 2012 JCPML Visiting Scholar, Associate Professor of History at Curtin University Bobbie Oliver, will present a lecture on the life of this much loved wife of Prime Minister John Curtin. She was also a mother, grandmother, activist, ALP member, traveller and overall sensible and practical woman with a great sense of humour, but until now not much has been revealed about her.
Professor Oliver’s research has been transformed into an online web resource and will form the foundation of the lecture, which will explore Elsie’s life in her own context and aims to put to rest some enduring myths about her role as prime minister’s wife.
When: Wednesday 17 October
Time: 4.30pm – 5.30pm
Where: Bankwest Theatre, Building 200A, Curtin University
Light refreshments will be served after the lecture.
RSVP: by 8 October to library-corpcomms@curtin.edu.au
Free parking (excluding disabled or reserved bays) is available in Car Park P3.

Really looking forward to this!
