The end is in sight for the building work on levels 2 and 3 of the Library.

In preparation for semester 1, other upgrade activity is also under way:

  • Painting of the group study rooms on level 5
  • Installation of more new carrels on level 5
  • New ergonomic chairs on level 3
  • New group study tables on level 2 and in some group study rooms
  • Improvement to the ventilation in the toilets

The staff who were temporarily located on level 6 in 2013 will be relocated to level 3, enabling group study rooms, computing facilities and a training room to be re-established on level 6.

Other improvements which will be completed during semester include:

  • Re-carpeting on level 2, level 3 and in the level 4 and level 5 group study rooms
  • New chairs in all group study rooms
  • Improvements to the lighting on levels 5 and 6

As you can see, we really are making your library better.

Renovations Update 21 October 2013

By Curtin Library 21 October 2013 Uncategorized No Comments »

The builders are making good progress and are on track to complete work over the summer break.

In the meantime, we’ve had the builders install 22 new powerpoints on level 2 and we’ve just added 50 more carrels to the silent and quiet study areas on levels 4 and 5 of Robertson Library.

We will be trying to keep the noise levels as low as possible during the forthcoming exam period.

Renovations Update 9 August 2013

By Curtin Library 9 August 2013 Uncategorized No Comments »

We expect that the library will be very noisy from Monday 12 to Wednesday 14 August due to cutting of the concrete slab between levels 2 and 3. The noise is likely to be worst on the lower floors on the east side of the building. During this period you may prefer to study elsewhere or on the higher levels of the western side of the building. We apologise for the inconvenience.

During the renovations the entrance to the library is located on the south side of the building.

While the Bookmark Cafe and Lounge are unavailable please remember to consume your food and drinks elsewhere (except for bottled water).

Renovations Update 29 July 2013

By Curtin Library 29 July 2013 Uncategorized No Comments »

We have been advised that the cutting of the concrete slab between levels 2 and 3 of the Robertson Library has had to be postponed for two weeks. The work is therefore unlikely to commence before 12 August. The library will be meeting with the contractors and University Properties to try to have measures put in place to keep disruptions to the minimum possible but some inconvenience during this time can be expected.

If you are trying to avoid the worst of the building works noise, currently the higher levels and the western side of the building are quieter.

Renovations Update 16 July 2013

By Curtin Library 16 July 2013 Uncategorized No Comments »

We expect that the library will be very noisy during the latter part of the week of 22 July, due to cutting of the concrete slab between levels 2 and 3. The noise is likely to be worst on the lower floors on the east side of the building.

During this period you may prefer to study elsewhere or on the higher levels of the western side of the building. We have tried to schedule the work when the number of library users is at its lowest but appreciate that there will nevertheless be some inconvenience, for which we apologise.

Renovations Update 9 July 2013

By Curtin Library 9 July 2013 Uncategorized No Comments »

We are taking advantage of the low client numbers during the semester break to do as much of the noisy refurbishment work as possible. During this time you may prefer to work on the upper levels on the west side of the library building where the noise is considerably less. Apologies for the inconvenience.

Renovations Update 28 June 2013

By Curtin Library 28 June 2013 Uncategorized No Comments »

The new southern entry to the Robertson Library is due to open Monday 1 July, at which time the eastern entry will close.

There will be some changes to the location of internal and external hoardings. The builders will be taking the opportunity of the semester break to do more noisy work that had to be postponed during the exam period.

At this stage we understand that the cutting of the concrete between levels 2 and 3 is not likely to proceed next week.
