Close to 80 attendees came to the book launch at Curtin University on Tuesday the 29th of October to listen to Antony Loewenstein speak about his new book, Profits of Doom. Dr Caroline Fleay from The Centre for Human rights Education (CHRE) was the MC for the evening and after light refreshments in the foyer, she introduced the topic and highlighted the 10th Anniversary and work of the Centre for Human Rights Education.

Dr Jasmina Brankovich, a member of Refugee Rights Action Network WA (RRAN), then spoke about who RRAN are and reflected on what the biggest lessons that can be learnt by the refugee rights campaign and any other organisation that shares a common aim in Australia, from Profits of Doom.

Caroline then introduced Antony Loewenstein and also spoke about parts of the book that mention immigration detention in Australia.

Thank you to Antony for launching his book in Perth through CHRE and to RRAN WA for partnering with us for this event. If you would like to listen to the audio from the evening you can stream the lecture online from here. Unfortunately due to technical issues in the venue, the volume of the recording is not high. We recommend using earphones or speakers attached to your computer to optimise the sound quality.
